My wife and I had plans to be in Paris for two weeks in June. Not surprisingly, we had to cancel our plans.
One of the reservations we had to cancel was a Street Art Tour Paris. When I reached out to Kasia Klon to cancel, the pleasant owner and operator of Street Art Paris mentioned that she was now doing virtual tours since she couldn’t do in person tours.
I jumped at the chance to attend some of her virtual tours. If I couldn’t be in Paris right now, at least I could see some of the sights while listening to a real expert explain some of the most popular Street Art of Paris.
I attended two virtual tours of Paris Street Art led by Kasia: From Louvre to Street Art and Murals XXL.
Top Street Artists of Today
One of the things I loved about the tours was that Kasia not only showed us some really cool art, but she also gave us a lot of really good background on the artists themselves. Names like OBEY, C215, Bansky, and Seth Globepainter were all new to me, but I found their work very interesting and thought provoking, from Seth Globepainter’s Enter the vortex to Bansky’s version of The Raft of The Medusa by Gericault.
Kasia also explained the historical background to many of the pieces, helping us to understand the times and put the artwork into proper context. Though many of the artists are contemporary, there is also reference to da Vinci’s Mona Lisa, Venus de Milo, and other well-known pieces of art.
Kasia Klon, founder of Street Art Tour Paris
Each was a small group of participants and lasted about 90 minutes. Led by owner Kasia Klon, the time flew by with an interesting tour of some of the best artwork in Paris.
Originally from Poland, Kasia is an artist who has made Paris her home since 2013 after stints in Turin, Italy, New York City, and Lodz, Poland. Kasia started Street Art Tour Paris in 2014 after following a muralist friend to Paris, and was named “The most Creative Polish Woman in France” by the Polish expat society of women in France (EmiPolka – Paryski Babiniec).
In 2017-2018 Kasia was one of the selected artists to reside in the most known art-after-squat in the heart of Paris – Rivoli 59.
Easy Access via Zoom
Virtual Tours are held via Zoom. Once you have signed up for your tour, Street Art Tour Paris will send you a link to join the tour at the designated time. Connection is easy and quick. You will have video access so you can see Kasia and the other tour attendees, and you can easily ask questions verbally or by using the chat feature.
To sign up for a virtual tour (or for an in person tour once they start up again), go to https://www.streetarttourparis.com.
If you can get to Paris in person, by all means sign up for an in-person tour by Kasia at Street Art Tour Paris. But if you can’t be there in person, you can still experience some of the best street art in the world by attending the entertaining and informative virtual tours at Street Art Tour Paris.
